Low Pressure Area Near Andaman Poised to Strengthen into Cyclone

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Monday that a low-pressure system has materialized near the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and is anticipated to escalate into a cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal in the coming days.

According to a special advisory incorporating data up to 8:30 am on Monday, the low-pressure zone has originated over the south Andaman Sea and adjacent Strait of Malacca.

The IMD stated, “It is expected to track west-northwestward and develop into a depression over the southeastern Bay of Bengal by November 29. Subsequently, there is a likelihood of its northwestward progression, further intensifying into a cyclonic storm over the southeastern Bay of Bengal within the following 48 hours.”
